My husband hates bringing around too much coins because they are heavy, so what he does is put all the coins he has in his pockets that day to a can ( a child's piggy bank will do nicely). When the can becomes full, he has a nice tidy sum that could actually be deposited into the bank!
So instead of letting loose coins lie around unused and ignored or use them to buy small, useless items, it's wiser to just collect them! In time, they add up!

Save the remaining toothpaste in the tube...
One of my favorite frugal tips came from my mother-in-law. Most of us keep searching for the best way to squeeze out the remaining toothpaste from a tube, buying fancy thingamajings to help, with little or no success, at best squeezing out another inch or two.
My mother-in-law's technique was so simple and straightforward, I wondered why I didn't think of it immediately!
All you need is a pair of sharp scissors. After you have squeezed out what seems to be the last remaining toothpaste in the tube, try to cut up the tube as in the picture... (Click on the picture for a larger version).
There's still enough toothpaste in both cut up ends for AT LEAST 5 brushings! Since we only use pea sized amounts, that translates into even more brushings!

Being frugal is wise, but being miserly is not...
That's why I started this blog.
I aim to provide a good source of information for trying to save money, but not in a way that would ultimately compromise us in the long run.
