No smoking!

I know people already know this, but some simply are too addicted to even consider stopping this vice. Nicotine in tobacco is linked to several types of diseases, including lung cancer, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, other cancers, age related macular degeneration, just to name a few.

That means that you've lost several ways. You've lost a big chunk of your income on maintaining the smoking habit over the years, you get sick and VERY uncomfortable, and you spend a lot of money to try controlling the mostly incurable problems.

You're the big loser when you smoke and you don't even try to stop.

Live with parents

I have outlined in another blog, the reasons why we still live with our parents.

I know some of you feel that it's unthinkable to still live with parents especially if you're already married. However, as I've outlined in my post, there are advantages to it.

Do take note, though, that although there are perks to living with the folks, there are also disadvantages, the biggest of all is that you cannot really do all the things you want with your own space. You will have to follow the house rules set by the property owner, which in this case are your parents.

Hand me down baby stuff

My son "inherited" a lot of his gear from his cousin. To name some, these are beddings, receiving blankets, a tub, a stroller, and a playpen! Imagine how much we saved!

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law were also happy about giving away the stuff because their kid already outgrew them and they just ended up as clutter in their house.

Of course, you have to choose the types of stuff that CAN be reused. We initially planned to reuse an old cradle but ended up not using it since the thing collapsed a few days before I gave birth. Shudder! So a warning -- do check if the things that you are going to use for your baby is still in usable condition.
