My mother wanted a new look for her kitchen countertop, so she had granite tiles installed. The problem with granite tiles is that it is more expensive than either ceramic or porcelain tiles, however it is more durable and looks elegant. But since it is a natural stone, there are few variations on its color.
However, you can consider porcelain tiles if you want more variety in color and design and you are on a budget. It is also quite durable and cleans up quite nicely.
