Rain, Rain

Time and again, we have been caught unaware by the weather. The key is to expect the unexpected, as far as weather is concerned.

I remember that when my mom and I went to New Orleans for a convention, we decided to do the tourist bit and go to Florida first. Unfortunately for us, there was a hurricane in Haiti and parts of Florida like Orlando (not sure if Miami was included) also experienced rainy weather. Rather than let that put a damper on our vacation plans, we still went to Epcot Center in Disney World. We bought a couple of rain ponchos inside (the one with Mickey Mouse print at the back) and toured the park. We still had a very good time.

My wedding day dawned a bit dark, a bit gloomy and WET. It rained throughout the day. Traffic was bad. We still chose to enjoy what is the happiest day in our lives. My mother-in-law swore that it rained hardest when we were saying our vows, and that we are supposedly blessed because of that. On the practical side, I'm glad we never thought of having outdoor venues for either the ceremony or the reception. I do not want the added stress of contending with a fickle weather. In my wedding video, it still showed how happy we are. The rain actually added drama to everything.

I'm rambling. What I'm trying to say is that there pretty much is nothing you can do about the weather except to work with it and to just enjoy whatever you are doing, rain or shine.
