Mother's Day Gift Basket

Next to Valentine's Day, Mother's Day is probably the next most "flowered" day. The traditional gift for mothers is usually flowers. And maybe dinner. Sometimes even appliances -- which some think are not really gifts for mom but for the family. LOL. It's probably a better idea to think of a Mother's Day Gift Basket with a set of things that mom loves and appreciates. Not only is this more thoughtful, it may actually turn out less expensive since you don't join in the mad dash to get flowers. And maybe dinner at home. Lovely.

Watch out for summer diseases

It's summer! You see sunglasses instead of umbrellas for sale, sweaters and jackets getting ditched, and people making plans for that long awaited Holy Week break. What you have to watch out for are the diseases that sneak up on you in the summer months. Diarrhea and conjunctivitis have a particularly higher incidence during these months. Foods spoil easily in the heat, so make sure they are kept in the refrigerator when not consumed. Water should be boiled properly. These are practical measures to prevent diarrhea. Handwashing is always important in the prevention of both the diarrhea and the conjunctivitis. Stay healthy and have a great summer, everyone!

Better video watching experience on your PC

For people who love to watch videos on their laptops, tablets or other mobile devices, do check out the free vlc download page.  Why?  Well, for one, it's free!  You can't go cheaper than free :).

VLC promises to deliver a better video watching experience for everything from Blu Rays to MP3.  They promise high quality pictures and subtitling.  It's supposed to be simple to use and fast.  Good news for somebody like me who does not have the time to grapple with technicalities and would just rather leave that stuff to the man in the house, who incidentally has an earlier version of VLC.  I will have to tell him about this newer version so that we can have ours upgraded.

If any of you has any reviews on this product, do post it here.  :)
